We do things right

Suppliers and partners

As a purpose-led company we recognize our responsibility to create positive impact and long-term value in everything we do.

But we can’t do this alone. Operating in 40+ countries, we work with almost 20,000 suppliers globally to create solutions to make the world smarter, more connected, and more sustainable.

At Jacobs, we always act with integrity and take responsibility for our work, care for our people and stay focused on safety and sustainability. Alongside our own Code of Conduct we also maintain a global Supplier Code of Conduct to ensure effective project delivery, reduce supply chain and performance risk, and serve as a conduit in building strategic relationships with our suppliers.

Jacobs’ Supply Management is focused on ensuring project delivery, reducing supply chain and performance risk, and building strategic relationships with our suppliers to help drive savings and meet our key initiatives, including sustainability, human rights, and diversity.

In 2021, Jacobs set an ambitious net zero target in line with the SBTi corporate Net-Zero Standard committing to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across the value chain by 2040. Key requirements of the Net-Zero Standard include focusing on rapid, deep emissions cuts; setting near and long-term targets; claiming achievement of net-zero only after long term targets are met; and investing in mitigation within and outside the value chain.

We also expect our suppliers to have ambitious sustainability commitments. Since January 2021, we have partnered with CDP Supply Chain Program to engage our suppliers, pinpoint risks and identify opportunities to support our suppliers in reducing carbon emissions and strengthening their climate resiliency. We have a commitment that 65% of our suppliers by spend covering purchased goods and services will have science-based targets by 2025.

Prompt Payment Code

At Jacobs we understand the importance of prompt payment to our supply chain and are committed to paying our suppliers within the agreed contractual timescales. The payment terms in our standard subcontracts are 60 days from the date of a valid invoice.

We adhere to the principles of the United Kingdom (U.K.) Government's Fair Payment Charter, and those of the U.K. Prompt Payment Code, with respect to paying suppliers on time, giving clear guidance to suppliers and encouraging best practice. We are committed to signing up to the Code as soon as we have resolved some system and process issues and engaged with our supply chain to improve our position and meet the given requirements.
