Jacobs Providing Technical Advice to Support UK Government’s CCS Commercialization Program

Contributing Key Capital Project Development Expertise

PASADENA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. (NYSE:JEC) announced today that, after a competitive process, its Consultancy business was awarded a contract by the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC), a department of the United Kingdom Government, to provide technical advisory services to DECC’s Office of Carbon Capture & Storage (OCCS). DECC has developed one of the most comprehensive programs in the world to support creation of a new carbon capture and storage (CCS) industry to help mitigate climate change.

Company officials did not disclose the contract value, but noted that the two-year contract is being delivered from its London operations.

Under the terms of the contract, Jacobs is providing an assessment of the agreed deliverables from two developers of full chain CCS projects as technical advisor to support the delivery of the CCS Commercialization Program. The scope involves review of key technical aspects of the projects, including design deliverables, project risks and their mitigation, methodology for quantification of clean energy production, as well as advice on the development of the project contracts with the developers, preparation of the bid evaluation criteria and technical support for evaluation of the bids. The two projects include the Peterhead Project in Aberdeenshire and the White Rose Project in Yorkshire.

The UK CCS Commercialization Program has $1.55 billion (£1 billion) capital funding available to support the practical experience in the design, construction and operation of commercial-scale CCS.
