Meet Kenneth Shields

Kenneth Shields has 39 years of experience in the design and management of projects for the transportation industry. 

He has been involved from circuit board design to the systems design level and managed complex rail systems and security projects. Kenneth has managed multi-million-dollar system design and construction projects for heavy rail and light rail systems involving control centers, security systems, communications, train control, overhead contact and traction power systems, and track work. 

As Systems Lead for Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA)’s Purple Line Light Rail Transit (LRT) Extension, he was responsible for the systems design for this 16-mile LRT in exclusive, semi-exclusive, and shared right-of-way. He managed the vehicle, overhead contact system, traction power, communications, signal system, and tunnel ventilation designs, and coordinated the interface between the civil section designer and the systems design.
