Jacobs. A world where you can.
As climate change threatens water security around the world, more communities are turning to water reuse as a resilient water supply solution and embracing the OneWater principle that all water has value. Jacobs has been supporting clients with water reuse programs for decades, beginning with the first applications of advanced wastewater treatment technologies in the 1960s. We provide our clients with a full range of services, from water reuse feasibility studies to design, construction and operations.
The only certainty about the future is uncertainty. Resilience is an attribute of a smarter planet, and requires planning and adapting ahead of potential threats. We help our clients survive, recover, adapt and thrive.
As a purpose-led company, we know we have a pivotal role to play in addressing the climate emergency. We consider this not only good business, but our duty to channel our technology-enabled expertise and capabilities toward benefitting people and the planet.

Stories that capture our partnerships and innovative impact for a more connected, sustainable world
With the shift to remote working, last year Jacobs had to quickly pivot to run an impactful and fun summer internship experience. Having a year of planning and experience under our belts, we came prepared to rock our second virtual summer internship program for 2021!
The vast majority of our interns worked remotely or on site, but that didn’t stop us from providing relationship-building opportunities all summer long.
We kicked off the virtual intern program with our Global Call Series, featuring executive leadership speakers from multiple lines of business and our employee network groups covering topics from sustainability and innovation to inclusion and diversity and business acumen.
Our interns also had the opportunity to attend several virtual lunch-and-learns facilitated by Jacobs’ University Champions to provide an intimate learning experience at the local level. Our Champions also organized virtual social events where interns had the opportunity to join a range of games nights and celebrations.
Another key celebration during the program was National Intern Day on July 29th. From local to regional celebrations, we wanted to show our interns how Jacobs simply could not be the company we are without the future of our business.
Throughout the day, interns got to know some of Jacobs’ young aspiring leaders on a more personal level as they answered questions pertaining to their career path – how they started, where they are now and where they aspire to go next. The day also included a virtual site visit and the opportunity to participate in the 2nd annual “Intern Connect and Reflect” program where interns from different lines of business and regions were matched up with each other to connect and network. And of course, no celebration is complete without tasty grub: our interns enjoyed lunch on us to thank them for all they do to make Jacobs a company like no other.
We capped off the summer internship program with a series of virtual presentation competitions – and as usual, the interns amazed everyone with their passion and creativity during the competition. Despite the lack of in- person connection and exposure to teammates, projects and clients, the interns made the best of it and it sure showed!
At the end of the summer, we surveyed our interns to get feedback on their virtual internships. For a lot of our staff, the presentation competition was the highlight of the summer as it gives the interns an opportunity to show everyone what they’ve been learning.
Additionally, one of our interns shared, “It has been a pleasure to work with such a quality company… Jacobs is a great collective of professionals who take pride in their work. Thankful to have interned with Jacobs. This internship experience has influenced me to return to Jacobs post-graduation.
“The Jacobs staff I was able to meet despite the COVID restrictions were some of the most interesting and intelligent people that I have ever met,” another intern noted. “My mentor inspired me not to just be a better professional, but to be a better person across every facet of my life”.
