Klang Valley Mass Rapid Transit

Supporting Malaysia’s bold vision for an integrated urban mass rapid transit system

More than a decade ago, Malaysia embarked on its largest-ever infrastructure project, Klang Valley Mass Rapid transit (KVMRT), with the vision of building a world-class integrated urban mass rapid transit (MRT) network in the national capital of Kuala Lumpur (KL.)

KVMRT will comprise three rail lines that will run in a wheel and spoke model — a circular line looping around the city of KL and two northwest to southeast radial lines. We’re excited to help Malaysia realize its ambition for the second KVMRT line – MRT2, one of the northwest to southeast radial lines, in a dual role: as a railway systems consultant and a trackwork detailed design consultant.

Fully operational in March 2023, the 35.9-mile (57.7-kilometer) MRT2 will transform how more than two million people travel in the Klang Valley-Putrajaya corridor. Along with the existing urban rail network, it will form the backbone of the region’s public transport system, leaving a legacy for generations to come.

MRT2 by the numbers

  • 35.9 miles

    (57.7km) route length

  • 104 K

passengers can travel daily (initial ridership)

  • $ 7.3 B

(MYR 30.5 billion) overall CAPEX value of the project

To complement our local rail teams supporting the delivery of MRT2, we mobilized our global rail systems, trackwork and BIM expertise.
