Jacobs. A world where you can.
As climate change threatens water security around the world, more communities are turning to water reuse as a resilient water supply solution and embracing the OneWater principle that all water has value. Jacobs has been supporting clients with water reuse programs for decades, beginning with the first applications of advanced wastewater treatment technologies in the 1960s. We provide our clients with a full range of services, from water reuse feasibility studies to design, construction and operations.
The only certainty about the future is uncertainty. Resilience is an attribute of a smarter planet, and requires planning and adapting ahead of potential threats. We help our clients survive, recover, adapt and thrive.
As a purpose-led company, we know we have a pivotal role to play in addressing the climate emergency. We consider this not only good business, but our duty to channel our technology-enabled expertise and capabilities toward benefitting people and the planet.

At Jacobs, we embrace all perspectives, collaborating to make a positive impact. And that’s why we’re particularly proud to take our place on the National Society of Black Engineers’ Board of Corporate Affiliates!
At Jacobs, we put people at the heart of our business. We have an unparalleled focus on inclusion, with a diverse team of visionaries, thinkers and doers. We embrace all perspectives, collaborating to make a positive impact. And that’s why we’re particularly proud to take our place on the National Society of Black Engineers’ Board of Corporate Affiliates (BCA).
We hire, develop and promote increasing black and minority talent in our teams across the globe. This aligns with The National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE)’s mission is to increase the number of culturally responsible Black engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally, and positively impact the community – a very complimentary match!
NSBE’s near-term goal is to inspire and graduate 10,000 black engineers a year by 2025, and we’re directly supporting their goal by joining a group composed of over 40 other industry leaders like Dow, Intel, and Google with the mission of supporting the success of NSBE programs, scholarships, and chapters.
We’ve been active with NSBE for years, however, this is the first year Jacobs is participating as a BCA member – NSBE’s highest level of commitment. Our partnership allows us numerous opportunities to drive recruitment and engagement with NSBE college and professional members – and in the last few months, we’ve taken full advantage, recruiting and representing at four of NSBE’s Fall Regional Conferences in St Louis, Tampa, Pittsburgh and San Francisco.
Jacobs’ commitment to helping NSBE succeed is underlined by the participation of our Chair and CEO Steve Demetriou in the program. Steve also serves as Executive Sponsor of Harambee, our black employee network. In September, Steve along with other senior leaders met with NSBE’s Executive Director Dr. Karl Reid to discuss strategies for driving inclusion and diversity across the communities we serve.
“Jacobs is thrilled to be a national partner with the National Society of Black Engineers. NSBE’s mission to increase representation of black engineers across our industry is aligned with Jacobs’ deep commitment to inclusion and diversity,” said Steve. “I was delighted to be able to attend and participate in the 2019 45th NSBE Annual Convention as a guest speaker, and I was extremely impressed with the magnitude of the event and engineering talent NSBE has to offer. I look forward to seeing the great results from this partnership.”
Jacobs will play an increasingly visible role at NSBE’s 2020 conferences and events, notably the NSBE46th Annual Convention taking place in March in San Antonio, Texas. If you plan on attending, stop by and visit us. And, click here to find out more about joining our global team.
