Jacobs. A world where you can.
As climate change threatens water security around the world, more communities are turning to water reuse as a resilient water supply solution and embracing the OneWater principle that all water has value. Jacobs has been supporting clients with water reuse programs for decades, beginning with the first applications of advanced wastewater treatment technologies in the 1960s. We provide our clients with a full range of services, from water reuse feasibility studies to design, construction and operations.
The only certainty about the future is uncertainty. Resilience is an attribute of a smarter planet, and requires planning and adapting ahead of potential threats. We help our clients survive, recover, adapt and thrive.
As a purpose-led company, we know we have a pivotal role to play in addressing the climate emergency. We consider this not only good business, but our duty to channel our technology-enabled expertise and capabilities toward benefitting people and the planet.
For more than 30 years, Jacobs has been responsible for planning and implementing Lead and Copper Rule-related strategies which protect millions of people in the U.S. and Canada. Our work includes enhanced water quality monitoring strategies, sampling plan development, harvested pipe-scale analysis, lead service line inventories and replacement plans, corrosion control studies and the incorporation of equity and environmental justice considerations into compliance programs.
Jacobs is working to help clients across the United States secure federal funding for projects that make our cities and communities more connected and sustainable. Working hand-in-hand with clients from coast to coast and everywhere in between, Jacobs develops bold, innovative solutions to address the nation’s toughest challenges.
Now more than ever, we appreciate the hard work, sacrifice and dedication of the medical profession in ensuring the health and safety of our communities.

Our 2023 bridge build team
This June, we’ll be waving off another group of Jacobs volunteers as they travel to Rwanda to build a brand-new suspension bridge that will connect communities to vital resources.
From 1 – 14 June 2024, the team of 10 will build a bridge across the Mutumba River alongside global non-profit Bridges to Prosperity, providing safe year-round access to schools, services and markets for over 7,000 people.
This is the third bridge-build Jacobs has undertaken in Rwanda. With more than one in seven rural residents in Rwanda struggling to reach jobs, schools, clinics and hospital because of a lack of connectivity, this is a fantastic opportunity to use our skills to drive positive and lasting change for the local communities the bridge will support.
The team will spend two weeks building the footbridge, while simultaneously getting stuck into local community life, living and working alongside community members and exchanging cultural and technical skills. It’s set to be an opportunity they’ll never forget!
Meet the team
The team is comprised of employees from around the globe, fulfilling specific roles such as project manager and communications lead, as well as general support roles. The team will also be joined by the executive sponsor for the project, Jacobs’ Senior Vice President & General Manager, Americas East, Chrissy Thom.
We asked some of the team why they wanted to take part in the bridge build...
Support Team Member Claire Southam: “Creating a bridge is symbolic not only of the joining together of Jacobs and the skills of its employees with a community in need, but also of the forging of friendships between colleagues from all parts of the world.”
Logistics Lead Ana Joavnovic: “I am ready to be challenged and immerse myself in a unique experience. Let’s build a bridge!”
Communications Lead Judith McVinnie: “I want to take part in this project to create positive change. I hope to inspire my children, family, friends and colleagues and demonstrate that anyone can make good things happen.”
Construction Lead Jeffrey Morris: “I'm excited to see what the 2024 team will accomplish when we all come together, working toward one goal. Helping other people strive for and reach new goals is a very big part of who I am – it's my number one passion in life.”
Project Manager Maya Braxton: “My goal for this experience is to make lifelong memories with the project team and create a generational impact for the community we will serve in Rwanda.”
What’s next?
Over the coming months we’ll share more content about the trip and how you can support our 2024 team – stay tuned!

We’re excited to introduce the team for the Jacobs Bridges to Prosperity Rwanda Bridge Build.
Aligning with Jacobs’ purpose to create a more connected, sustainable world, Collectively is our approach to corporate citizenship and philanthropic efforts. Uniting our diverse global team in a single platform for giving and volunteering, Collectively allows us to amplify the positive impact we make in our communities.
Twelve Jacobs team members came together to construct a footbridge to better connect a local Rwandan community to education, healthcare and livelihoods.
Earlier this year, we partnered with the non-profit Bridges to Prosperity to build a suspended footbridge across the Kamiranzomvu River in Rwanda to provide safe, year-round access for the surrounding communities, empowering them to end poverty due to rural isolation.
Guided by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, sustainability is at the heart of our company strategy. We're committed to driving positive impact through every solution we provide our clients and through our own operational decisions and activities.
In a world that’s fast advancing in terms of technology and development, it’s easy to forget there are still areas where people live without access to necessities. Find out how we’re helping bring electricity to Indigenous people in a remote region of the Philippines.
