The assessment places the most advanced service providers into one of four quadrants: Leaders, Innovators, Specialists and Challengers. This is based on 100 performance criteria covering remediation and regeneration, climate risk adaptation, biodiversity and natural resources protection, environmental management information systems, industrial water and wastewater, air quality and project and program management, among others.
Based on its Green Quadrant: Environmental Services 2024 analysis, Verdantix identifies Jacobs as a Leader, with strengths in:
- Broad remediation and regeneration projects for a range of contaminants: Across our global business, we undertake thousands of site investigations, assessments and remediation projects, ranging from small and remote sites to large infrastructure programs. These projects manage a wide range of contaminants, from radionuclides and metals to organic and emerging contaminants, importantly per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). In an evolving regulatory environment, we support end-to-end execution of remediation, from strategy development, assessment of contaminants using our patent-pending PFAS Evaluation Toolset, to managing environmental impacts and minimizing client liability.
- Ability to embed more sustainable, climate-resilient solutions into wider projects: Our ability to blend a broad array of service capabilities is showcased in our delivery of climate change resilience and sustainability solutions across our entire portfolio. We systematically consider the potential impacts of climate change and opportunities to reduce carbon emissions in all our markets and projects. Our sustainable transformation projects range from capital development support to strategic advisory and operational solutions. We often deploy powerful digital tools such as Flood Modeller or Aqua DNA, which predict flooding and respectively reduce wastewater pollution to deliver sustainable outcomes.
- Services to support complex water management challenges: We achieved a top score of 3.0/3.0 in the water and wastewater category. The report found we can bring huge expertise and resources to deliver water solutions, with a broader water practice possessing a global reach of over 9,000 employees. Integrating with our wider engineering, design and construction capabilities, we support some of the largest and most complex water infrastructure projects. For example, our work to deliver the Thames Tideway Tunnel, a large program to modernize London’s 150-year-old sewer system. Once completed in 2025, the project aims to deliver a 95% reduction in climate- and population-induced sewage pollution in the River Thames.
