Jacobs Receives Contract From Centrica for Underground Gas Storage Project in the UK

PASADENA, Calif., May 26 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. (NYSE: JEC) announced today that it received a contract from Centrica plc (Centrica) to provide front-end engineering services for an underground gas storage (UGS) project located in East Yorkshire, England.

Officials did not disclose the contract value.

The project involves conversion of the substantially depleted Caythorpe onshore gas field, located close to the National Transmission System, into an onshore UGS complete with associated onshore pipelines and processing facilities.

Centrica is a leading integrated energy provider and the parent company of British Gas, the biggest supplier of electricity to homes in Britain. Centrica's main operations are in the UK, North America, and Europe. The company also owns Rough, the UK's largest gas storage facility with a storage capacity of approximately 118 billion cubic feet.

Working with other clients, Jacobs has successfully designed and managed the delivery of most UGS project investments in Europe.
