A social entrepreneur and strategist, Sarah re-joined Jacobs in 2019 to explore the potential of generating even greater and wider value through infrastructure.
“Social value is such a broad concept and we are just starting to understand how this approach can shape infrastructure design, delivery and outcomes for people in our communities. We have the funds and technology to solve our greatest challenges; we need to let go of the assumptions, models and mindsets stopping us from putting it all into action.”
Having worked with private sector, government and NGOs in areas such as alternative education, sustainability, economic development and entrepreneurship, infrastructure planning, youth unemployment, social enterprise and strategic consulting, Sarah's current role as Regional Solutions Director - Strategic Consulting is in part an attempt to bring all of those things together in the world of infrastructure.
Sarah co-authored Jacobs’ thought leadership paper Before and Beyond the Build: A blueprint for creating social value through infrastructure investments and led the precincts strategy and investment workstream for Suburban Rail Loop Authority as part of the Aurecon Jacobs Mott MacDonald (AJM) Joint Venture.
Prior to Jacobs, she spent five years on the Foundation for Young Australians’ (FYA) leadership team, co-founding a social enterprise to put FYA’s research about the future of work and social change into action. She has also worked with not-for-profits based in India and Thailand on organizational and program governance, regional economic development and trade, and women’s entrepreneurship.
Sarah is passionate about seeing multidisciplinary teams collaborate worldwide to provide advice and design responses that support equitable social and economic transformation.
